"Blauwe bloemen.......Blue flowers"

Er is weer een Caswell blok af..

Another Caswell block is finished...

De nerf op de bladeren is heel smal, en ik heb het er aan een kant opgeregen, en eerst de andere kant vastgezet, daarna langzamerhand het rijgdraad eruit gehaald, zo dat er niets zou verschuiven. Je kunt ook de lijn zien die ik om het freezer paper malletje had getrokken.

The vein on the leaves is very narrow, so I basted it on one side, and stitched the other side first. Then I slowly took the basting threread out as I went along, so that nothing would move. You can see the white line that I drew around the freezer paper template.

Deze bloemen waren wel heel erg leuk om te doen, die had ik op dezelfde manier geregen, langs een kant.

These flowers were fun to do, I basted them in the same way, along one side.

Nu verder met het volgende blok, terwijl ik wacht op Stonefields maand 5.....Fijne dag!

"Caswell vogel.........Caswell bird"

De afgelopen weken heb ik gewerkt aan de Caswell quilt. Deze keer was er ook weer een vogel bij, die vind ik altijd zo leuk om te doen.
Hier is het eerste blok...

During the past few weeks I have been working on the Caswell quilt. There was a bird in one of the blocks again, I always love doing birds.
Here is the first block....

En de tweede, waar ik mooie blauwe stofjes voor kon gebruiken..

And the second one where I could use nice blue fabrics...

De derde ging heel vlug...

The third was very quick to do...

En hier is het blok met de vogel. Dat was leuk om daar stofjes voor te vinden die er wat exotisch uitzagen..

And here is the block with the bird. It was fun trying to find fabrics that would make it look a bit exotic...

Ik heb een paar donkere stipjes in de bloem geborduurd...

I embroidered some dark French knots in the flower...

...en ik vond een leuk stofje voor het oogje. Met needleturn kun je de kleinste rondjes appliqueren..

...and I found a nice fabric for the eye. With needleturn you can applique even the smallest cirkels.

De overburen zaten vandaag heerlijk te zonnen..

The neighbours across the road were enjoying the sun....

" Stonefields 4..."

Allereerst dank je wel allemaal voor alle lieve en bemoedigende reacties op mijn vorige blogje!
De Stonefields blokjes voor deze vierde maand zijn ook weer af. Deze waren heel erg leuk om te doen, echt een fussy-cutting paradijs!
Ik zal ze in volgorde laten zien. Eerst komt 38 'Angel Wings'

The Stonefields blocks for the fourth month are finished. They were such fun to do, this quilt is a fussy-cutter's paradise!

Hier zou ik er eigenlijk nog twee van hebben moeten maken, maar als ras-echte Nederlander kun je toch geen genoegen nemen met alleen maar EEN tulpje? Dus daar heb ik er nog twee van bijgemaakt.

I should have made two more of these primroses according to the pattern, but as a native Dutch person I couldn't be happy with only ONE tulip, so I made two more instead.

Buiten waait het, en het regent, hagelt en sneeuwt, heerlijk quiltweer, dus ik ga fijn verder met mijn Caswell blokken!

Outside it is windy, raining, hailing and snowing, lovely quilting weather, so I shall pick up my Caswell blocks now.

"Stonefields Maand 3.....Month 3"

Allereerst een gezond en voorspoedig en vooral een creatief 2015! Mijn voornemen voor dit jaar is van alles af te maken, en daar horen dus Stonefields en Caswell ook bij. Maar een jaar is altijd korter dan ik denk, dus we zullen zien hoe het gaat.
