"Melktijd...........Milking Time"

It is going well with the cow-quilt. The flower-fabric looked good with the next border.

I appliqued the clamshells on top of each other, so that they look like hills.

Soon all the clamshell borders were finished.

Then came the next problem - a fabric that would look nice in the corners. First I tried pink (and brown, and...etc.).....

At last an old chintz by Den Haan Wagenmaker. And I liked that one the best. It fitted in with the other fabrics.

Die werd er dus aangezet.

So that was sewn on.

My plan was to do more applique on the next border, and of course there had to be a sashing. Again I tried lots of fabrics.

But the best one came from this border, and that border was almost too beautiful to cut up.

Then suddenly the quilt spoke. "I want the whole border, and then I am finished." I did feel a bit done out of more planned applique, but when a quilt speaks, you have to obey, because quilts know what is best for them....:)
So I sewed on the border. I do everything by hand, so this border too. It does not take long and it is nice to do.

This is the result. the quilt was right, because now the centre block gets all the attention. It is about 52 inches square.

I already had the fabric for the backing, and the sandwiching was done quickly, so I am now quilting.

Sometimes it is very misty and dark here.....nice quilting weather.

.....but because spring is arriving there are plenty of tulips available. The tulip vase I bought at the Palace Het Loo in Holland, and the bowls on the left were a present from my beloved husband.

Fijne dag allemaal!

Have nice day!

Jane
